193 km. from Teruel, it is one of the loveliest and most authentic urban ensembles in Aragon, with its typical streets and part of its walls, and, on the top of a hill, the castle and the archpriestal church, forming one of the most beautiful ensembles of purist Gothic in Aragón. The castle began to be built in the 14th century. It has irregular hexagonal plan, being all the sides straight but uneven. The inner organization is the usual one, with rooms around an open courtyard. The facade is one of the most sumptuous of civil Gothic style in Spain. On its top there are three small towers that are linked by a walkway. In the interior the Court Room is remarkable, with three carved pointed arches in the windows. In the upper part we find a spectacular gallery with eleven round arches. The northern half of the castle is more military. Other remarkable monuments are the Gothic church of Santa Maria, linked to the castle (14th C.) and the Consistorial House, Renaissance from the 15th C. In the surroundings there are remains of the Iberian and Roman settlements.
