San Pedro de Siresa.

About 45km. from Jaca. Take road C-314 to Puente La Reina and there take the turn-off that takes to Selva de Oza. Few kilometres after Echo, we find Siresa, where we can admire a lovely popular architecture. Despite the works it is possible to visit it

Siresa. Huesca.

The old monastery of San Pedro is a Romanesque building, built in 1082 because of a supposed Augustinian reform of the Carolingian abbey founded in the 9th century.

Only the church has been conserved. It has Latin cross plan, a deep semicircular vaulted apse and a three-section crossing. In its impressive architectural austerity only two ornamental elements can be noticed: a cord-like decoration on the windows and the blind arches. It is a National Monument.

A restoration was undertaken in the 13th century. The difference between the primitive work and the restoration is perfectly signaled: the former was done with limestone in well-lined courses, the latter is made of masonry and is quite coarse.

Some Gothic oil paintings on wood have been conserved.

15 km. away from Siresa, we find la Selva de Oza, an ideal place for excursions surrounded by an imposing mountainous landscape. In Oza there is a campsite, a mountain hostel and a restaurant where you can taste local specialities. From there you can get to some places of incomparable beauty: la Boca del Infierno (The Mouth of Hell), Guarrinza or Aguas Tuertas.
